niiiiiiiice. I'm glad you cut the low on the ambient drone. Really lets the rest breathe. I love the off beat syncopation. I'm counting 140, but it's probably 70. But a 140 breaks beat could be very interesting. The balance is fine, some nice width and pan. Tones are good. I wish there was more, a beat, a harmony, an upbeat contrast to crash back into the wave.

You keep being awesome

Midnights-Ocean responds:

Thanks! heh yeah I had to slap the low end way down on this one. I certainly could have gone farther with this one but it was supposed to be really simple. : )

yes.

Well dynamics mean shit.

not your fault and aint shitting on you.

Perfectly adequate.

never not 5

Tremulos responds:

No that is my fault, I don't like to spend time on mixing and mastering so I slap a mutliband compressor on the master and call it good. It's laziness tbh. I'm happy you enjoyed it anyways, thanks for the review!

Ok. You need to be banging vox out now. Listen to Ian Brown.

I'll give it a go. got lyrics aplenty, but i would request you remove the phased panning synth, if a vocal were to be added, then bring it into an instrumental mid 8.

Syntrus responds:

Does the synth you want gone for your cut come in around 00:26? The Korg Ms20 lead? Would you like the file so we can do a collab? Who is Ian Brown? Do you need it extended? I know nothing of song structure I make fun beeps on my computer. LOL

hmmmmmmmmm.

you using c64?

No offense here. I hate chiptune, more specifically new makers.

Yea. nice melody, but you are not keeping to 4 outs, adding a delay and verb too. Not shitting on you. Just trying to advise how a chip works. 4 channels. you want an effect you lose a channel

5 regardless

Astro-reality responds:

Thanks for the advice! I am not really into the chiptune genre but I wanted to try something out with these 8bit plugins which I found. Will keep this in mind for the next time.

niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Clean pick, to delay.

Drums too heavily comped.

Yea there is some mix issues but it's so in my lane. Very pumpkins.

It's an easy fix, we relax the drum. We redo you parts so each lines single take (did you think I'd miss your joins)

Temper it all, expand the drum.

KEEP the bass, it's bang on. just pump it/

Great work. You need a separate heart to produce you

now that i'm not completely exhausted, i can give an actual response now

for the drums, i just slapped some Maximus preset since I couldn't be bothered to actually properly mix/master anything nowadays

hate to break it to you, none of the instruments here are actually recorded.
have you ever noticed that while i specify what software i use, i never specify any hardware? i won't lie, it did start from me messing about on my bass, but i don't have any recording hardware nor do i have any guitars.

but still, thank you very much for the review!

ok let's hear what you got

love the open, huge breathy vox, cheeky piano, into the filter.

yea. really like this, breakbeat drum, bass, strong meolody.

Dude, this needs some real clarity, the reverb is drowning the mix. Your bass, may as well not be there. You need to roll your verb back, then pump your levels, not too much, but you need to be eq'ing and multi comping.

I really love this track, seriously, i'll mix it if you want.

keep doing what you do but refine it.

5 always

Nephalem responds:

thanks, yeah i'm definitely not the best when it comes to mixing lmao but thank you for the kind words.

Oh yes this is great. I love the jazz stylings with the flange tremolo. Your vocal is quality, clean and tight. I think they sound slightly detached from the rest of the track, some reverb to match the instruments may work. it's a brilliant track.

5 as always

pbj

Goodboyboyboyboy responds:

I'll try that out, thanks!

oh yes.

I do like. it's very bass dominant making your mids hard to hear. just some gentle cut fixes that

Twistedtechnology responds:

Thanks a ton for the review!! Yea, I used a different technique for the final mixing, and listening back on it, it does sound a bit muddy doesn't it? Lol, I will go back and work on a better rendering when I get some free time!! Thanks for the advice!
