Oh my GOD you're ALIVE!!!!

fucking hell man, how the bloody hell are you? haha tune anyways, what the fuck in gods name is going on with this? It's like an amiga game gone horribly wrong. It grates me unfortunately. I understand, i get it, i don't like it tho. It has that thing tho that makes it stick under your skin. That is not good my friend.

I have to say it is one of the weirdest songs i have heard in a loooooooong time, i don't know where i stand on this honestly. It's like you're challenging the listener, something subliminally aggressive.

i'll give you a 4/5 mate, cos i get it, i don't like it tho, sorry.

WinTang responds:

Hahahaha, no worries mate obviously, I could've known I was straying VERY far from the pitters path there :)
Of course the grating and skin attack is all very much intended - I wonder what made you sit through the entire thing tho, was that just your love for me?

Anyway, I'm fine, I've moved and graduated and am now rehearsing a play five days a week. Three weeks until the premiere. Thus unfortunately I still don't have a lot of time to spend here. Nevertheless I've been listening a bit to your new stuff, you got some very nice things there and you'll be the first to receive a review when I get to writing those again (prolly in a few days).

I'll talk to you soon hopefully.

Love, the Tang

Seen not heard

haha you know what the opening sounds like? a kids birthday party gone horribly wrong, like it's on ketamin haha. It's a great track, clanging away, has that ethnic feel which you capture really well. The kids voice always gets me, think it's ace.

Your production is brilliant mate, faultless and the dynamics are spot on, peaks and troughs, not all one level like meself. I nearly missed the sax, sneakily put in.

its great mate, fifen, 9/10

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

there ain't no party like a special k party;/

ermmmmm

i forgot what the mac was for, tend not to do em. Tis a very nice loop, a tinkly, if a bit 'synthy' and it's a bit predictable but as a loop it wors fine, tis all a nice a sweet i've definately heard better from ya tho.

4/5

curriemaster responds:

Agreed! Cheers for the review ;)

Hmmm what do we have here?

Gonna let this loop a few times before i really get going, but as it opened on first play i was instantly intrigued, some very ambient 'dark' sounds which i always like.

The glitchy beat is cool, scratchy with that bass drum on the off beats its very very cool.

It's very unnerving this track, reminds a bit of tricky but without vocals. Some nice reversed breathy sounds as well.

think a vocal would be good over this, or some abstract harmonising. It's quite a quiet track surprisingly, but that quietness contrast well with the delayed synth that comes in and out of the mix.

Can't emphasise the eerieness this track has, that slidy synth really tingles my synapses with freakish thoughts.

you very clearly have some disturbing thoughts going on in that head of yours, whatever they are they create some seriously fiendish tunes. loving this all the way.

production wise i think it's pretty bang on the button, can't fault it.

(new tune 'leave me be' when eve you have a mo)

LJCoffee responds:

Thanks! Disturbing thoughts in this head of mine eh? It's odd that I would take that as such a high compliment isn't it?

I'm glad you liked it - I had a decent time making it.

Thanks again!

(also left a review for "Leave me be")

again nice

would again suit a game, has that gamey feel about it, which is a good thing in a way, not overly dramatic or ear grabbing but musical enough to work in the menu or cut scene of a game. not overly brilliant and sounds a bit light but i like it if more for how simple it sounds than anything.

New tune up Leave Me Be (hear me manc tones singing)

LJCoffee responds:

Thanks for the review - I agree with all of the above - as I mentioned in a prior response, this was a last minute rework of a fairly generic loop that was created for a work project. The original wasn't great - it had to be "safe" nothing too extreme so you can't expect much from it. You gave a pretty fair assessment!

yea nice

Very much reminds me of menu music for 16bit games or early playstation stuff, nice, though the splashes sound weird compared to the rest of the tunes. Like all the blippity blops, and the main melody is good too. Yea like i said suit a VG very much or a flash game on here.

4.5/5 (5 if it werent for the splash)

LJCoffee responds:

Ahhh yes - yeah this wasn't a serious track. It was a sort of a poke at Techno. All it needs is an super extended soft pad intro, a cheering crowd sample or two, a lilting female going "oooohhh-aaahhhhh yeaaahh" and maybe a siren and it'll be the next big club hit. :D

hehe RAWK!!!

haha, gotta say not my favourite sort of music, But as heavy rock goes it ticks the right boxes, i like the touches of gain distort which popped up earlier on.

Loud much? some nice fret wanking in places. It's hard fr me to really appraise this with no bias, ohhh i heard some background noise which would be due to hig gain but masking it would help.

it's good, just not my cup of tea

DarKsidE555 responds:

Yeah, no "bias" sry. :( The background noises are easy to explain. Guess active pick-ups aren't always better if you work directly at the comp. :/

Thanks for checking it out pitters! Atta boy! ;D

hey u ghey!

Very nice guitar man, i like the delayed chorus effect, Just letting go over a couple of loops, The rhythm is a bit 'muddy' needs some clarity, the attack is thumping the strings too, It's a minor complaint. it opens as if it's leading into a rock tune. some really nice sounds being played and melodies too really nice. Think there is a couple of timings errors nothing horrendous though, but needs tightening up a touch.

The rhyhtm bit is my chief gripe here, can't quite put my finger on it. its very nice stuff though and if you develop it im sure it'd sound awesome, as it is it's about a 4.5/5 but as im nice i'll 5 ya.

pitters

DarKsidE555 responds:

Hm...you really think so? Well, I guess I could agree on the little muddyness of the rhythm guitar but I disagree with the timing errors. ;D

It may sound a little strange near the end but it's all fine with the timing, don't worry.

Right with the rock tunish feeling. Normally it would burst out into something like that but I'm also a guy who likes the simplicity...just like you. ;D

Anyways, thanks for the cool review man! Good luck with your new job!

nice tune

Just listening through nice enough composition. Very much a tried and tested formula, the use of the strings haha, i gotta admit you add drama, but has been hammered to death. the picks nice, and the vocal is really clear.

The bass strings are too low, and once you get really dramatic, the strings drown everything out. they need taming back, or the singer needs to go much louder to compete with it.

It's a nice tune tho, the addition of drums would be nice one it picks up. the double track is done well, with a slight delay, adds a bit of clarity.

it has plenty of potential, but your a strings hamper it.

4/5.

Rig responds:

In that case, you should check out http://www.splicemusic.com/music/?sound=11371 - the original Nine Years Old song. With no strings! And yes, the mix could be fine-tuned a bit more...it was hard to find a balance. Feel free to make your own version! :-D And thanks for the review.

Oh aye

Really really nice track, dark moody. full of emotion. the vocal compliments the track so well, has a feeling of 'hope' regardless of the lyrical content.

The arrangement sounds really lo-fi, but there some really nice stringy sounds in ther, what sounds like a cello.

The vocals are really clear, crisp, excellent production work. It does feel like this tune is gonna kick into something legendary, if you've listened to doves theres similarities iherent in this track which resemble some of there earlier output.

If you ever think about developing this, i really think you should. but as it is it's mind blowing.
