Hmmmmmmmmmm

Its all HERE, right in my face. Respect the dynamic range, it doesn't have to all be loud.....

I do concede, as a piece of trap house it works splendidly. That pull and push to maintain. You have so much genuine good in the soundscape and I am onboard, but dude, it's clipping, it's all volume. Tame it, go from the rhythm section, make sure your drum, bass, lead are clean, punch through and central. EVERYTHING else should mix round it, hard pan the estoric, 75-50 l/r everything else. Cut the tops and tails. Watch your peaks.

I like this, i like the samples, i like the glitch, i like the bass. That first glitch sample is too upfront and too repetitive though. I hear it, i get it, but it's distracting. You would benefit from its removal.

A harder, verb'd kick perhaps? I think there's some work needed to balance your dry and effcted parts, and that is going to be hard to resolve. It's something I fight with playing live and mixing synth but it's a skill to learn.

Overall I like it, it has promise. on a pbj scale it's a solid 6. but i always full mark.

Great work, keep it up.

eh up mate.

LOVE THE VOX. I see someone using reversed reverb :)

Them harmonies. Mwah.

Your singular vocal, too much verb.....it's accentuating your errors. I'd maybe take the shimmer and octave off, i suspect it's valhalla maj verb.

the drum and support vox yes! daaaaaaaaaamn.

I honestly believe your lead vox stops this being a proper 10. If you're going to lead you have to nail every note, no amount of effect work will save you.

The track is polished, everything sounds pro, well comp'd, verb'd and eq'd. Except for your lead, it sounds like you are unable to project.

this is a 5 all day, but that vox needs fixing

Troisnyx responds:

Spot-on about the lead vox, I tend to not project too well when I'm seated down (which is my current recording position). I need to be standing for this sort of thing; it appears my lungs have gone into full chorister mode and are not coming back from that. ☺️

As for 'verb, nope, it's all software defaults.

PEAKS. DAMN.

You open big, at 40 secs, you drop level as the compression takes hold.

Drop the mix 10db, let the track breath.

You have a track here, take some time and eq.

etK responds:

That's just the Bass, but it doesn't overstep the other instruments, I worked hard on this EQ. But this is the ambient version of a Techno track

That is some headspace.

A bit bass drowned but man I love this shiz. Ohhhhhhh a jp-80 synth, dudes bringing vangelis ha.

Yea, just do some light eq, cut the top and tails and pan.

love it

BIG PEAK.

Where can the headroom go? Bring the open down.

Love love love the vocal samples.

I dig this track, it's 80's, think New Order (and that is high praise). I think your drum sample choices are a bit dry, but I understand you are limiting to an 808. I would look to deviate, a bassier kick, a more rock snare, substitute your hats for rides, verb the shit out of it.

You need to be panning bro, a string synth 50 l, vox 50 r, hats 75 l, snare r. Autopan the arp, slow 25 width. BASS the mid with the kick and the central synth.

This has big balls on it and delivers. Sterling work.

yo mate. love me some aphex inspiration.

i like this a lot. It has a nice old skool feel that blends to modern trap.

your kick is far too 'donky' though, it's needing a deeper thud. The track is heavily compressed, it's a bug bear of my own, i really appreciate dynamic range. but for the genre it's ok, id focus a tad on the bottom end.

is it my sort of music ? nah. but i hear a lot of innovation, your strings in the m8 as example.

5 bro. just look at your range

pbj

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I have half these synths. I like. it's dark, droney, glitchy. So very 80's. It's really clean as a mix and it comes across professional. I adore your wide panning, it takes a brave soul to go wide but it benefits so much for the separation.

Is the bottom end too bassy? I ain't sure, i'll try another run on monitors. There's some minor peaking in the low. most noticed at the end.

This is an amazing track overall, ticks every box for me. Maybe some vox, perhaps....

10/10

Midnights-Ocean responds:

Thanks! Heh, I kinda figured you'd dig this one.

The production didn't turn out bad considering I was forced to do 3 weeks of work in 3 days @.@;

I almost always forget how wide I like my imaging and panning. I've never had a subtle approach to it I guess. Glad you think it worked well!

Yeah some bass issues are probably there to be polished another day, if that day even ever comes.

Yes, I so wanted to add vocals but I just don't have any convincing synths that could do more than simple minor effects type stuff. Unfortunately I'm not in contact with anyone at the moment who could have sang them either. If you knew someone who liked the tune enough to do some, I wouldn't be against it but it would have to be their bag. I don't have time for more production unfortunately.

5 all day

80's

human league, new order.

yea that bass line

your 360 pan, i buy in. set up generally aint set for that.

You have a great bass/syncoptated rhythm, even with the 408, those otave pap arps are beautiful. You have created a 2020 version of a 1990 mix.

love it

you nicked my vocal synth

Midnights-Ocean responds:

hey I'm a bit surprised. I figured no one would dig this lol.

Thanks. There's still much to polish here but I think the drum and pads worked out decently. : ) That vocal comes from alchemy. I wish I could have used the original vocal I had on the mix but I don't know if it's copyright, so, I had to sub it out.

bro?

i don't not 5

maaaaaaaaaan, your bass, just eqthis. we work in the nolan range.

seriously, roll the atmos, you have a beautiful track. straight db or octave cello.

roll verb back
