nice tune

i've listened to this before and i don't know why i didn't review it then. anyways, i like it, it's a lil poor production wise but thats only a minor complaint, me singer in me band used to do a lot of stuff like this when he were playing guitar so it rminds of his stuff, which is a gud thing, hes in holland now, you brought him bk for a sec lol.

WinTang responds:

Hehe... thanks for the review. There's almost no production, I just recorded two guitar tracks to CoolEdit - all the effects and settings are from the Boss ME-30... I kinda aimed for the lo-fi sound, though I know that actual lo-fi needs to be produced as well :)

And I live in Holland too! Is he attending education here?

whoa man

lol, i didn't see that coming from anywhere that guitar, i were just sat there thinking yea okay, then BOOM, there it is, a great lil track thorougly enjoyed that, even tho it was a little on the short side, i think you could develop that into something bigger even, and a nice vocal line would have been a bonus. GOOD TUNE THO.

cool tune

this is a really nice tune man. nice use of electornica and everything, the layering of the beats good, using ambient sounds and so on, the feel of the track is uplifting, could be a proper summer track on a chill out album. Really good stuff, if only a lil more diversity such as a midsection or chorus. keep it up tho.

Amoeboy responds:

ta, this is just meant to be a loop though, not a full on trk, i never knew what to do with it.

Not Bad

Cud be a whole lot better though, this is the worse track of the three vo it's still a gud attempt. Basically it's a really muddled mix, things are far too close and u lose alot of clarity that wud be there with the use of panning and just reigning things in a lil.

i heard a lil clipping too, which is a sign of things being to loud, roll off ur sub frequencies with a low cut, anything pretty much under 100hz as they're just sub frequencies and all they do is eat up ur head room without being audible.

again apply ur bass as well, besides ur drums in a track the bass is what catches ur audience, then ur melody line, a combination of all three is what makes a gud track into a great track.

keep on coming. and have a listen to my stuff.

chill the fuck out yea.

erm, nice, again. that lil twinkley bit is really nice but i think u rely on it far to much and it becomes a lil repetitive, and again this track is missing the bass it so desperately crying out for. The production is really crisp and clear, there was one noise about midway thru which ruins the tone and muddles the mix just for a second, tame it bk or use something different. Again good effort, keep it up.

NICE

nice tune that mate, gud arrangment and the length seems just about perfect. Really chilling piece of music, i've downloaded it so i must like it. anyways just one lil question.....for a dnb track there was drums but where was ur bass? I understand it's meant to be a light track but a lil bass wud hav carried this tune along even better, just singular notes, nothing special.

Good effort vo keep em coming. 5-by coming ur way.

yo mrmaestro

dude you are fantastic, ive just listened to a few of ur tracks and ur frickin ace, ive gone n fiveend all ur tracks up, but my vote powers crap so they dint make much impact lol, anyways it's all gravy man, im glad ur on board.

DavidOrr responds:

Thanks! I'll have to check out your stuff when I get back from boston tonight.

sweet as fuck

fucking AAAAAAAAA man, ur fricking ace, the progression of this piece is ace, for all it's randomness the piece just sticks togeva, which is a hard task to achieve with so many melody lines going on. I love it man, all ur stuff, it does remind me of something i listened to wen i was doing music at skool, i cudnt name the composer but there's defo summat there, lovely stuff mate keep it up.

LJCoffee responds:

Stuff you listened to in school? - Well that was most likely NOT me :D

As for the random feel, it's actually not nearly as random as you might think - There are really only four parts to it but I assigned amywhere between two and four different instruments to each part and I pop back and forth between the instruments in some cases from note to note and in others every few notes - there is a pattern to it though - it'a all full of numbers

- I usually do that though, most tracks that I've submitted contain at least one part that has some sort of numerical significance - sometimes it works well, sometimes it doesn't. If you haven't listened to "Calling Card" that's a perfect example of what I'm talking about - almost every bit of that song was created by encoding number sequences and then attaching a sound to the result. I used a few similar techniques with this submission.

RAWWWWWWK

again ace mate, love ur style i really do, i cud defo work around summat like this, even if im more inclined to indie, dont change anything on this man,

mhb responds:

thank you. glad you like my style. it was made form years of life on the mean streets of fonda. a tiny shit little village in upstate new york. i think the population is around 500? maybe less.

good job

pretty darn gud man, i always get a lil jealous wen peeps play lead well, im just crap at it. bags of potential, keep it up

mhb responds:

thanks man. you shouldn't get jealous when we play leads. just start learnin' the theory of scales and modes and you'll be playin' leads and solos in no time.
