i love the arpegiated synth line, that runs througout the beginning of the track, that vocal sample thing tho is slightly irrating needs sum reverb and distance on it. when the proper section of the track kicked in instanly i thought of DJ Shadow, truly awesome beat arrangement and scratching going on. the actual production quality is fantastic really clean mate. again i dont like that vocal thing, its too close, and thats the only thing i dont like. the track is stunning tho mate, really impressed, its been a while since ive heard any of your output and i have to say u just keep surprising me.

You´re absolutley right about hte vocal, it´s too loud and upfront. I never really got to mix the vocals taht good, i was too lazy :) I´ll definitley remember that for the next song tho :)
DJ Shadow, is one of my influences, really glad ya see that! :)
Thanx for the review, i´ll keep surprising ya;)

cracking tune Ped'. Love the glitching elements that feature early on in the mix. the 808 is awesome alonf with the synths. really takes the listener on a journey as the track moves into a darker moment then lightens up again, its really reminisent of the late nights dance tunes you find on R1 at like 3 in the morn, don't take offence at that as thats when proper tunes appear rather than pop shite.
I thouroughly enjoyed the track and i always love the use of old skool analog instruments, when used well they sound brilliant as they do in this track. obviously some knob will come along whinging that u used 808's and 303's 'should have used real drums' bollocks and shite. but fuck em its a solid track, another to add to the collection.

yeh, 808 may be cheap but i fookin love the sound, plus, along with the analog synths it's much easier to mix than all this electro-acoustic stuff i've been spewing out of late.

i didnt like the opening, that acid bleep threw me right off. but as soon as the track kicked in it all came better for me, the beat is awesome, some fantastic glitching elements going on again. Again it feels rather sparse as a mix though i like it, the beat being the drive behind the tune. Its not one of your best imo, it just didnt stick in my head but its still a good track nonetheless. good stuff mate

Thanks man! - I've heard a few less than great comments on the synth - it was an early attempt with a new VST so I'm not too worried about it.
I like the sparse stuff personally - in fact, I think that's what most of my stuff it - I like to think it all has interesting percussion minimalist instrumentation and usually I add something along the lines of long drawn out pads or someo sort of textures ambience to fill in the dead spots behind it all.
Thank you!

I havent looked at the thread to understand the formula you've used here, im gonna judge it on how i hear it. The simple beat works really well on this track, keeps you interested in whats going on, along with the small glitching elements that compliment the track, the very subtle synths are an awesome touch that emphasise the vocal elements of the piece. it feels like the track is carrying a message of some sort due to the use of those vocal samples. it's a really nice track, sparse but full at the same time. i don't think anything needs to be developed with this at all. good job

Author's Response:
Not much of a formula really - just a bunch of different time signatures all mashed together. Once the music happened, it seemed to have a sort of clinically insane feel to it so I ripped vocals from another project from years ago and threw them in there.
Thanks for your vote!

Great track mate, i love how you mashed up the opening guitar part to feed into the beat. If im right there's some metalic flanging goin on with the guitar which sounds really cool. Its a quality track and reminds me a lot of an ian brown track off of music of the spheres. That sound quality and production are top notch as always mate, im not too sure whether a vocal wud work or not but id like to think theres a place for it. as always its a treat listening to your stuff.

Mister Pitbull! - Nice to hear from you, "Music of the Spheres" eh? - I'll have to look into it.
Vocals might be alright in there - I only wish I had a reliable source for them though - I'm not about to punish you guys by asking you to listen to my voice - that's just too much to ask - unless I want to see scores in the mid to high ones :D
Thanks for reviewing this - the scores you gave it are making me blush.

gets 10's across the board this mate it's bloody mental. gorgeous though. there's so much drama in this track it's amazing, remember like the old B&W movies of the 30's nd 40's like some crime thriller or something like that, it'd score one of those easily. the only thing i have to say tho because of the formula there didnt feel to be any sort of deviation, peaks and throughs but that is clearly understandable as to why that is. It's a great experiment though and i really should have an attempt at making something with just numbers and formulas. great work and i love you.

Thanks pitters, you foxy man, I love you too.
I gotta tell ya, Simon-F is redoing this with GPO solo strings and there's really going to be peaks and throughs - the written dynamics and stuff are working much better there.
And yeah, you sure as hell should do a math track, it's great fun to do and I'd be very interested to hear yours!

yay first review. nah this is very nice stuff mate, love the drums on this, very military. the strings are fantastic i think it's supposed to be a violin, i love it or its a cello, i dunno but that is gorgeous. it has the sense of an impending struggle this, you know like in a japanese film, a war is about to happen, the suns setting, the fires are burning and the plans are being made for attack. a great amount of detail has been put into this tracka and i thoroughly enjoyed the whole song.

Wow, you were quick! I just posted this stuff like 5 minutes ago. Well...
Mmmm, military-like, japanese style, you say? I didn't picture that kind of scene but yours is great, too! As this piece is not quite a scene, but a character.
Anyways, thanks for the vote and review!

I hate this sort of music lol. Its really good stuff though, my mate would thouroughly enjoy headbanging to your stuff, some of your drum samples were pretty bad tho, that opening crash was one. but i understand its not really the beattho is it. very cool stuff tho mate, chugging along and load of riffage too. good job

i can hear everything decent now. and by dear god, wow what a contrast man, then drum n breaks (hehe) sound awesome some really inspired beats there man. a very sinister and dark synth there, ive used a very sinister one on an old track of mine with my singer rapping.
it's absolute qualioty mate, the guitars are awesome, the delayed reverbed vocal. wow.
the second section is almos identical to another tune i did years ago, that steel drum is the stand out thing, the beats absolutley fantastic.
the track really rings true class throughout mate, you should try and get some airplay for this, try xfm or the evening session, or as KB did the god of the pod on R1 it's a contender.
a true classic of the AP.

the reason bits sound like ur old stuff is coz i've got a remote control like adam sandler and i paused time, walked up north to your house and rifled through ur hard drive. u had porn on the monitor and ur weeny in ur hand. i swear i didn't put it in my mouth. then i got on a national express and pressed fast forward, job done.
airplay? i dunno... i tried submitting the 1st part to the podcast but 9 said it was made for a puzzle game not radio, hehe, ouch.
anyways, glad u like it
